Introduction to Process Safety

In today’s industry, there is nothing more critical than the safety of industrial processes. Building in safe and reliable control processes is a key to protecting employees, company assets, profitability, communities and the environment.

The two topics included in this course, Terminology, and the Safety Instrumented System (SIS), provide insight into some of the methods used to identify risks and implement safe solutions. It ends with a discussion of Safety Interlocks, and the need to periodically test these interlocks.  The courses include both multiple choice questions to test understanding of the material, and links for further reading and viewing video.

NOTE: If your job requires you to test Safety Interlocks, the RCAM offers classroom training which includes a lab that provides hands-on experience in testing safety interlocks in a very realistic Industrial environment. A second lab provides experience in troubleshooting safety interlocks that do not operate correctly.
