RCAM Introduces a New Generation to Advanced Manufacturing Careers

As part of its ongoing efforts to inspire a new generation to consider a career in advanced manufacturing, RCAM provides a number of opportunities for K through 12 students. One of the most successful is AMP Camp held each summer for middle school students. Participants tour local manufacturing facilities to see how things are made, and then join classmates in exploring hands-on experiments that demonstrate advanced technology skills needed for the 21st century workplace.

Advanced Manufacturing Camp

The Advanced Manufacturing Camp (AMP Camp) is a grant-funded program designed for rising 8th and 9th graders (having completed 7th or 8th grade in 2011–2012 school year). The camp gives students hands-on experience in Advanced Manufacturing technologies and science exploration to capture the excitement of manufacturing's future.

The 2012 camp will be held June 4–8 and June 18–22, 2012.

Camp is now full and no longer taking applications.  Thank you for your interest and try us again next year!

Tech-Explorer

Students learn STEM related skills in a program called “Tech-Explorer” developed by Sierra College Center for Applied Competitive Technologies. In this program, participants build a working catapult from materials, drawings, and processes used in today’s advanced manufacturing. Each student will be actively engaged in the manufacturing process and gain hands on experience using tools and equipment.
